“Infatuation”

Spotted you from across the room as I consumed
Is it the poison that enhances your allure?
Or is it pure? I had to find out for sure
Steady steps in your direction
Instincts persuading me to pursue a connection
Never felt this nervous when thinking about the opposite sex
What do they call you and by what are you impressed?
What are your habits and would you answer if I called you collect?
I want to put you in a movie that I fully direct – and co-star in
Play you like guitar strings, I’m not trying to be charming
Not your ordinary duo, together we’re misfits
I could lose myself for the rest of this existence
You’re worth every second
I would trade in this life of living reckless without question
You’re my lover, my therapist and my best friend
My ambition to overcome dead-ends
Before I get ahead of myself would you care to conversate?
I know the thoughts are real, I’m still in a conscious state
Reassuring jargon, I’m sure you’re a target to most
I’m sure you’re approached by gross, ill-mannered folk
I’m different, my intentions are not merely physical
Want to make you laugh, cry and feel miserable
Your beauty’s overwhelming, need to find out if your mind is similar
We can indulge like crickets in the night
And have a picket fence that ain’t white
