“Dream Girl”

“Dream Girl”

I open my eyes, she’s lying beside me
Is this a dream or the memories inside me?
Remember the first encounter as I approached
She says she was on a deserted island and I was her rescue boat
Plenty of guys courted her for her beautiful features
Immediately tried to hit it out of the bleachers
All boring with the same old stories
All clichés, calling her boo, bay and shorty
Shortly thereafter…
A couple of serious thoughts and shared laughter
Similar tastes…
As the conversations grew we could truly relate
No dates…just asked her if she wanted to escape
We ran away from the system
Got lost in her voice as we separate the truth from the fiction
Sophisticated, she’s interested in the universe
Spontaneous wardrobe…looks good in sweats or a skirt
Her natural fragrance rubs off on my vintage shirt
She’s into wellness so I eat my spinach first
Opened my mind up to dine at different venues
She even has me eating off of vegan menus
She’s fresh as Venice beach
Allows me to forget about my enemies
My remedy…
She got me to wean off of the Hennessy
She listens to Beethoven, Nas and Zeppelin
I love her every feature from her feet to her freckles
She turns me on without being sexual
A perpetual bond that combines the physical and intellectual
Concerned with important topics that range
From starving kids, poverty and climate change
Amazing body, attitude and a finer brain
No pressure as we take it in stride
We disagree, but are never disrupted by ego or pride
We go to bed, watching her sleep is serene
I open my eyes, she’s gone, it was all a dream
